Our mission

Sismo, a Spanish word for earthquake, or in other words ground-breaking. That is our vision; to bring you ground-breaking theatre productions and multi-disciplinary performances of contemporary plays.

Sismo Stories & Performances aims to enrich the cultural landscape of the Netherlands by providing a platform for exciting new theatre productions in English, transferring them to Amsterdam with their original casts and creative teams straight after their UK runs, and by supporting playwrights writing in Dutch.

We focus on new writing, across all artistic platforms from dance to spoken word, from plays to multi-disciplinary pieces. We are committed to highlighting contemporary narratives in a theatrical form.
We will bring you contemporary stories from all walks of life that speak to the here and now.
We are a not-for-profit organisation driven by a desire to invest in the artists who make theatre and live performance possible.

We have big plans for the future: we want to create a cultural living room. A building for artists, audiences, theatre lovers and curious passers-by. This building will provide performance spaces, meeting areas, co-working places and a lively café; it will bring people together, providing a wide selection of events round the clock. Come to our space to watch a show, visit an installation, have a bite with friends, take a yoga class or brainstorm about your next projects!
